High Point Students Thrive In A Caring Environment with Expert Faculty & Clinical Supports

At High Point School students are academically and emotionally supported and given every opportunity to discover their full potential. As a New Jersey Department of Education approved private school for students with disabilities, High Point is designed for the student who learns best in a non-traditional school setting. Our unique approach achieves positive outcomes by incorporating a trauma-informed, flexible curriculum delivered by expert faculty & clinicians in a safe environment with therapeutic supports. Students ages 5 -21 attend High Point from school districts throughout Central New Jersey.

We recently spent time speaking with High Point faculty member Julie Lipton, to hear her thoughts on what makes the High Point experience unique. Julie is a Reading Specialist and the Supervisor of Special Education. "At High Point School our students thrive because they feel most secure in our learning environment. The positive, supportive system we carefully build into each child's experience is our strength." To Julie's point, High Point is able to create a supportive environment for each student because of the onsite resources made available to each child enrolled in the school. High Point's specialists work together in support of each child's unique journey. Teachers, doctors, nurses, licensed clinical social workers, crisis intervention specialists, and occupational and speech therapists, all team-up to provide a comprehensive and supportive experience for each student. This integrated approach offers individualized academics, evidence-based positive behavior supports, medication management, individual and group therapy, and comprehensive clinical programming.

Julie, like so many of the teachers and staff at High Point, believes that the close relationships and highly collaborative environment make all the difference:

"We value student-teacher relationships and maintain small class sizes and ratios so that faculty can truly know, value, understand and support each child's unique journey. Our staff and clinical team work so closely together in support of each individual child--there is a trust and a system of shared values at every level."

As Julie mentions, trust and collaboration are essential ingredients in the formula for success at High Point. Trust and collaboration are important for any student, however because of the complexity of each student's needs, these values are crucial and key to each student's success. High Point students often experience anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral & attention difficulties, developmental & learning disabilities, and psychiatric disorders, therefor having staff who can meet students where they are in their journey as they evolve through their childhood and adolescent years is vital. In addition to an environment of trust and collaboration, High Point offers a wide array of therapeutic services and evidence based positive behavior supports including: medication management, speech and occupational therapy, comprehensive clinical programming and individual & group therapy.

High Point's spacious campus is located in Morganville, NJ and offers a swimming pool and a Peace Garden for quiet reflection, along with hands-on experiences including Culinary Arts, Wood Shop, Creative Arts, Clubs, and various Sports Teams. Together, all of our offerings promote a positive and effective learning environment.
